After a fight with comedian Chris Rock, Will Smith stepped on stage again when he won the Best Actor award for his role as the father in King Richard.
Will Smith says his character (Richard Williams in King Richard) is always protecting his family and thanks to God for guiding him to success. While apologizing to the Academy, he did not mention Chris Rock in his acceptance speech.
So in just 15 minutes, Will Smith won the 2 most important awards. The first is the Oscars golden statue, the other is the trophy in the hearts of fans, because of protecting his wife.
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony (the Oscars) by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), boasted the best films released between March 1 and December 31, 2021, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, U.S. on March 27, 2022.
After Chris Rock, while on stage to present the award for Best Documentary Feature, joked to Jada Pinkett Smith that he was looking forward to a sequel to G.I. Jane, in reference to her alopecia, Pinkett Smith’s husband Will Smith stood up from his seat near the stage, strode up to Rock and slapped him. After sitting back down, Smith shouted at Rock to “keep my wife’s name out of your f****** mouth.” When Rock, who joked about Jada Pinkett Smith while hosting the Oscars in 2016, protested that it was just a “GI Jane” joke, Smith repeated the same line.
