The US Supreme Court has shocked the country by banning American women from having an abortion, by voting to overturn a 1973 ruling that recognized women’s legal abortion rights. The decision could empower states in the US to ban abortion.

In 1973, the US Supreme Court, through the famous case known as “Roe v. Wade“, ruled in favor of women’s legal abortion rights throughout the United States.

However, the latest decision of the US Supreme Court, with 6-3 votes in favor of conservatives, overturned the 1973 ruling, calling the previous decision is wrong and unconstitutional.

With the new ruling, the US Supreme Court has restored the ability to allow US states to pass laws banning abortion. An estimated 26 states in the US have or will pass legislation banning abortion, with few exceptions.
