The International Center for Sports Studies – CIES recently released a list of the top 100 most valuable football players. Surprisingly, neither Messi nor Ronaldo are on the list.
Every year, CIES publishes statistics on the top 100 most valuable players in the world. According to the 2022 ranking, Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe is the most valuable player on the planet.
The French player has just extended his contract with PSG after turning down Real Madrid. Mbappe’s transfer value is up to 175 million pounds.
Mbappe’s figure is nearly 20 million pounds higher than that of second-place: Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian star received a value of £158 million after leading Real Madrid to the Champions League 2021/22 title.
In third place is Man City rookie Erling Haaland, valued at £130m – £79m more than City paid for him.
Barcelona star Pedri is fourth, while Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Man City’s Phil Foden are in the next two places.
Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, 7th. Following Liverpool’s Luis Díaz, Man City’s Rúben Dias and Ferran Torres completed the top 10.
However, Harry Kane – Spurs superstar is only ranked 30th with a valuation of £66 million.
Another surprise is that Ronaldo and Messi are not on the top 100 list. Maybe they are old and declining in form.
PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is the best goalkeeper in the world.
Benfica’s Darwin Núñez is considered the most valuable player without playing in Europe’s top 5 leagues.
Finally, Barcelona’s Gavi is the youngest star on the list at the age of 17, who was talked about in Pique’s love scandal.
Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne is the oldest on the list at 31 years old.
