New coach Erik ten Hag of Man United will receive a record high salary when leading the Red Devils of Manchester.
The 52-year-old strategist signed a 3-year contract, with an option to extend it for 12 months. Although Ten Hag’s exact earnings are yet to be announced, he will become the highest-paid Dutch manager in Premier League history.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claims Ten Hag will earn more than compatriot Louis van Gaal did during his fateful two years at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal already earns a base salary of £3.3m / year at Manchester United – excluding bonuses. Therefore, Ten Hag’s salary will exceed that number.
The last official manager of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, has received a huge amount of up to £ 7.5 million / year. When fired in November, Man United was forced to pay a full year’s salary to the Norwegian coach.
Money was not an issue for Ten Hag. His family is said to be one of the richest in the Netherlands thanks to a very large real estate company, and income from several other financial firms.
Ten Hag arrives at Old Trafford after five successful years with Ajax. He will take over the team from interim coach Ralf Rangick. A busy transfer summer is expected in the coming months when Ten Hag wants to revolutionize Man United.
Rangnick revealed earlier this week that up to 10 new signings could be made in the next transfer window.
Speaking of his appointment, Ten Hag said: “It is an honor to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am extremely excited about the challenge ahead.”
“I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am fully determined to lead the team to the deserved success.”
“It is very difficult to leave Ajax after incredible years, and I can assure Ajax fans that I will be fully focused on Ajax before moving to Manchester United.”
