At the end of 2019, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Giang province brought seedless lychee to the experiment in Tan Son commune (Luc Ngan district) with more than 500 seedlings.

After more than 2 years of planting, in 2022, the results are successful. The fruit is large, beautiful color, thick pulp and sweet, crispy, completely seedless.

In previous years, seedless lychee was traded from Japan to Vietnam, at $214.13/kg, 150 times more expensive than Vietnamese grained lychees.

However, even people in Japan rarely see lychees. The origin of the seedless lychee comes from Southern China.

Statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province, Vietnam show that people have harvested 104,000 tons of common seed lychees this summer. Of which, more than 57,500 tons are consumed in the domestic market, 46,500 tons are exported to China, Japan, EU, USA, South Korea, Australia, Cambodia, Thailand…

In Vietnam, common seed litchi is very cheap, sold directly at the garden for 0.51-1.16 USD/kg, retail price 1.07 – 3.43 USD/kg. There is no official price for the new seedless lychee.
