Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo comments on Wayne Rooney’s Instagram in response to nasty sarcastic comments of his former teammate and Jamie Carragher.
On personal Instagram, Wayne Rooney – the coach who is leading Derby County shared a photo taken with Jamie Carragher and presenter David Jones with the description: “Great night on Monday Night Football”. Ronaldo went to this post and left a short comment, “Two jealous”. The 37-year-old superstar’s comment went viral and got tens of thousands of likes before it was deleted.
So what did Rooney and Carragher criticize Ronaldo?
In a recent interview on Sky Sport, former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney gave a brutally honest assessment of his former club’s dismal season.
Rooney believes that Manchester United’s decision to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford has backfired and the club should look for a younger striker to lead the attack next season.
When asked if re-recruiting Ronaldo at the age of 37 was MU’s success or not, Rooney was adamant: “You’d have to say no (it hasn’t worked), at the minute,” Rooney said. “He’s scored goals, important goals in the Champions League earlier on in the season, he scored the hat-trick against Tottenham”.
“But I think if you’re looking at the future of the club, you have to go with younger, hungry players to lift Manchester United over the next two or three years. Obviously Cristiano is getting on a bit and he’s obviously not the player he was when he was in his 20s”.
“That happens, that’s football. He’s a goal threat, the rest of the game, I think they need more younger and more hungry players.” Rooney added.
Meanwhile, Carragher confirmed that Ronaldo was involved in Harry Maguire‘s bad form: “The difficulty for Maguire is that he has no power in MU. Since last summer, Maguire has been distracted and entangled in a debate about whether he or Ronaldo is worthy of the captain’s armband”.
Maguire lost his leadership and influence in the dressing room. That caused his form to drop without stopping. Maguire needs to change the situation, and prove his ability and bravery to be able to stay at MU and the defense of the England national team.
