The latest updates about the case of 2 Vietnamese artists raping a 17-year-old girl in Spain. Musician Hồ Hoài Anh was suspended from work in Vietnam, only his wife and children flew back to Vietnam.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Anh Tuan – Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music – where musician Hồ Hoài Anh is working, said that on the afternoon of July 1, he received the command of the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam on the case of 2 Vietnamese artists raping a 17-year-old girl.
On the evening, the academy’s leadership held an emergency meeting about this scandal. Accordingly, the director of the academy said that Ho Hoai Anh went abroad without asking permission from the academy’s leaders. If Ho Hoai Anh returns to Vietnam, he must immediately explain.
“Ho Hoai Anh must be disciplined and punished,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Anh Tuan shared.
“All activities, images and projects related to Hồ Hoài Anh will be suspended and removed”
Previously, on June 21, Hồ Hoài Anh posted travel photos in Veneto (Venetia), Italy and Majorca (Mallorca), Spain on Facebook. After June 24, Hồng Đăng and Hồ Hoài Anh did not update any new posts.
Inspectors of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam said that they are verifying and clarifying the case related to 2 Vietnamese artists raping a 17-year-old girl and were arrested in Spain for s*xual assault.
Successfully contacted musician Hồ Hoài Anh, he cried
Ho Hoai Anh’s mother announced that she had contacted her son, he cried.
“Ho Hoai Anh’s mother is very sad. She said that her son cried. Ho Hoai Anh told that he went go Europe with his wife and daughter, so everything is fine. Ho Hoai Anh is very sad” – Assoc. Dr. Le Anh Tuan said.
Only Hồ Hoài Anh’s wife and children returned
According to the Vietnamese press, musician Hồ Hoài Anh went abroad with his wife (musician Lưu Hương Giang) and children, but on the night of July 1, only Lưu Hương Giang and daughter returned Vietnam.
Previously, musician Lưu Thiên Hương (Ho Hoai Anh’s sister-in-law) also announced that her sister’s family would return on the night of July 1.
TV series played by Hồng Đăng is still allowed to air, the script may be changed
At noon on July 1, Vietnam Television – VTV announced to replace and cut all shows with the participation of actor Hồng Đăng and musician Hồ Hoài Anh from July 1, including the replays.

2 Vietnamese artists can be sentenced to 15 years in prison
According to Article 179 of the Spanish Criminal Code, a rapist can be punished by 6-12 years in prison. However, in May 2022, The Cortes Generales demanded explicit consent for s*xual acts.
Consent is a clear expression of one’s will, silence or passivity is not consent. Thus, non-consensual s*x can be considered s*xual assault and the offender carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
Currently, the identities of 2 Vietnamese artists raping a 17-year-old girl in Spain have not been officially revealed. Majorca Island authorities confiscated passports and banned the two suspects from leaving the island.
Detailed testimony of the 17-year-old British girl
The 17-year-old British girl accused a 37-year-old actor and a 42-year-old Vietnamese musician of raping her.
The victim said that after having dinner with her mother, aunt and grandmother in a restaurant on the coast of Majorca, she went out to smoke (because smoking in restaurants is prohibited in Spain). Here, 2 Vietnamese men approached her and talked together.
After about 10 minutes, the girl’s relatives discovered that the girl and the two men were no longer on the beach, so they went to look for her.
After searching for a while, they found the girl crying upstairs in a hotel near the restaurant. The girl said that the men attacked her. The girl said the two men wanted to show her another beach nearby but led her to their hotel room, where they took turns raping her.
With the girl’s testimony, many diners and staff of the restaurant did not let the 2 Vietnamese artists leave. They immediately called the police.

While waiting for the police, the 42-year-old musician testified that they did not bring the girl up to their room and only chatted on the beach. Although the hotel reception and security camera (CCTV) show that the musician lied.
The 37-year-old actor said he had no idea and couldn’t remember what happened. Both were arrested and detained.
The 2 Vietnamese artists declined to answer questions until a trial will be held. It is not clear whether these two artists came to Majorca for work or tourism.
