According to NHK television, former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated, he was in a state of unconsciousness and cardiopulmonary arrest.
An NHK reporter said that two shots were fired when Shinzo Abe was giving a speech in the city of Nara (southern Japan), around 11:30 a.m. Tokyo time (09:30 UTC+7). The suspect used a handgun.
Shinzo Abe collapsed and bled, then was taken to the hospital.
A male suspect has been arrested. Japanese police say the suspect approached former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe from behind and shot him.
Currently, the former Japanese prime minister has been hospitalized but is in cardiac arrest. The perpetrator, after committing the crime, stood still and did not run away. This is clearly a well-planned assassination. The killer is Yamagami Tetsuya, 40 years old
