An 18-year-old boy caused a bloody shooting at an elementary school in Texas, USA, killing 18 children and 3 adults.
The incident happened at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde City, Uvalde County, Texas, USA at noon on May 24 (CDT UTC-5). Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the 18-year-old gunman is believed to have fatally shot his grandmother before going to elementary school with a handgun and possibly an assault rifle.Greg Abbott added that the perpetrator of the bloody shooting was a local and an American citizen. The gunman died after the attack, believed to have been shot by response forces. Two policemen were injured but not seriously.
According to Uvalde police chief Pete Arredondo, preliminary investigations indicate that the gunman acted alone, without any other assistance.
Robb Elementary School has more than 500 students, mostly Hispanic and poor. It was the deadliest mass shooting in the US since 14 high school students and 3 staff/teachers were killed in an attack in Parkland, Florida in 2018.
The Robb Elementary School shooting is also the worst mass shooting at an elementary school since the deadly 2012 shooting in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, killing 20 children and 6 school staff.
